🔎 Out of the 8 Companies Analyzed, Only 4 Are Based in Miami-Dade

Out of the 8 companies analyzed, only 4 have their headquarters in Miami-Dade. All others have their main offices outside the county, with some even based in other states or countries.

Despite several Miami-Dade-based companies participating in the bidding process, only one of them secured a contract, while the majority were awarded to companies based outside the county—and even outside the state.

This pattern raises questions about selection criteria and whether local businesses are being prioritized, contributing directly to the county’s economy, or whether external corporations are being favored at the expense of local investment and employment.

Key Questions for the Community

🔹 Why is Miami-Dade County awarding multi-million dollar contracts to out-of-state companies when local businesses in the same industry exist?
🔹 Are these companies being chosen based on technical capability, or is there a bias in contract awards?

🚨 WHY IS THE COUNTY PRIORITIZING OUT-OF-STATE COMPANIES AT MIA? 🛑

Our airport, our money, our voice!

@MiamiDadeCounty and its 13 commissioners—including Kevin Marino Cabrera—have allowed C&W Facility Services (headquartered in Massachusetts) to take $261 MILLION from the MIA cleaning contract.

Where is the real support for local businesses that Mayor Daniella Levine Cava promotes in her speeches?

THE HYPOCRISY IS CLEAR:

▫️ While promoting “local entrepreneurship,” an out-of-state company manages critical services.
▫️ Only 2 out of 3 contractors are from Miami-Dade. Why not invest 100% in our community?
▫️ A “local” office for C&W does not change the fact that profits flow out of state.

TRANSPARENCY? ZERO!

MIA is OUR asset, yet:
Opaque contracts.
Weak oversight.
Who is held accountable for poor service affecting travelers and workers?

What Do Taxpayers Demand?

Prioritize local businesses in public contracts.
Independent audit of MIA’s finances.
Commissioners must explain why they do not defend Miami-Dade jobs.

Is Miami-Dade Favoring External Companies Over Local Ones?

The initial analysis already reveals a concerning pattern: the county assigns multi-million dollar contracts to companies not headquartered in Miami-Dade. While some have local offices, their profits, tax revenues, and job creation may benefit other states or counties more than the local community.

This raises crucial questions:

🔹 Is the county missing an opportunity to strengthen the local economy?
🔹 Are there Miami-Dade companies capable of handling these contracts?
🔹 What criteria does the county use to prioritize contractors from outside the region?

This is just the beginning of a broader investigation. In future reports, we will continue adding examples and further exploring the economic impact of these decisions on the local community.
